Walter Belton, Sr, son of the late Jim and Sue Moses Belton, was born August 15,1923 in Camden, South Carolina. He entered into rest on October 6th, 2020 at Kershaw Health Medical Center.
Walter received his early education at Good Hope School. He was a dedicated member of Good Hope AME Zion Church where he served as a custodian, trustee and a class leader for many years. Walter worked in the timber industry and retired from Westvaco. Mr. Belton enjoyed working in the yard and eating sweets. He enjoyed people and was known for laughing and joking with everyone he came into contact with.
Those that are left to mourn Walter include his wife of 71 years, Viola Belton; eight children, Walter (Oree) Belton of Rembert, South Carolina, John (Angie) Belton of New Jersey, Willie (Denise) Belton of California, Dolores Dais of Camden, South Carolina, Gilbert (Vanessa) Belton of Columbia, South Carolina, Brenda Belton of Sumter, South Carolina, Edwina (Frank) Harmond of Columbia, South Carolina, and Rowena (McCleen) Jones; daughter-in-law, Ann Belton; 28 Grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Nettie James, Burnie (Frances) McClinton and Pearline (Amos) Williams; a host of extended relatives and friends.
