Sumter

Theodore “Teddy” Sanders, Jr entered into his earthly service in Sumter, South Carolina on the 30th of September 1946. He would receive his earthly discharge on the 30th of January 2025 at his home in Sumter, South Carolina.

Teddy decided at the age of 17 that he wanted to serve his nation. He would join the United States Army at the age of 19 and submitted to selfless service in the Viet Nam war. While the work that Teddy did was dangerous, he enjoyed serving in the US Army and ensuring the freedoms of his country. After a period of service, Teddy received an honorable discharge and returned home.

Teddy was an amazingly positive and kind person who enjoyed making everyone laugh and feel loved in his company. His hobbies were cooking and playing instruments. In addition to his love for family, his heart belonged to New York where he lived most of his adult life after the military.

Teddy was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rosa Lee Sanders.

Those left to forever remember and cherish his memory include his children, Anthony Michael Sanders of New York and Theresa Sanders (Gregg Self) of New York; siblings, Charles Sanders of South Carolina, Levi (Linda) Sanders of South Carolina, Joice (Michael) Knight of South Carolina, Joan (Marcellus) Howard of Virginia, Alva Sanders of Maryland, Kevin Sanders of South Carolina and Roberta (Wayne) Lewis of Mississippi.
