Shirley Elaine (Woods) Dowdell

Mrs. Shirley Elaine Woods Dowdell departed this life on Friday, January 13, 2017 at her home in Lugoff, South Carolina surrounded by her family. She was born, May 8, 1955 in Blaney, South Carolina to the late Mr. James Woods and Mrs. Gertrude Woods. At an early age she became a member of Unity United Methodist Church in Lugoff, South Carolina. She graduated from Kershaw County Public Schools and also received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.   She was employed at Craft Farrow State Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina for many years as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Dowdell was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Johnson Carolina, a sister, Mrs. James Paulette Williams and step-father, Mr. Abraham Carolina, Sr. Those left to cherish her fond memories, grieve her passing and celebrate her home going are a daughter, Chaka (DeAngelo) Green; her siblings, Virginia Hudson, Deborah (Ron) Felder, Abraham (Rebecca) Carolina, Jr., Karen (Dwight, Jr.) Thompson and Patrick (Sherry) Carolina; nieces and nephews, Joyce Williams, James Hudson, Jr., Ashley L. Carolina, Abraham Carolina, III, Dwight Thompson, III, Brandon Felder, Patrick Carolina, II, Harrison Carolina and Victoria Holliday; her former spouse, Lonnie Dowdell, Jr.; her significant other, Herbert Williams, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
