Shirley Bessie Lee, daughter of the late Toby and Bessie Lee, was born October 26th, 1951 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She entered into rest on September 9, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina.

Shirley was raised by her aunt who became her adopted mother, Mrs. Lula Bell Ellerby and her husband, Robert Ellerby. She attended Jackson High School in Camden, South Carolina. Shirley loved to shop on the QVC channel and travel but most importantly, she loved going to church. She was a member of Edwards Chapel AME Zion Church and she sang on the church choir. During her working years, she was a nurses aid at Pinedale Nursing Home and a notary public.

Shirley is survived by her sons, David (Peggie) Ellerby of Camden, South Carolina and Robert Ellerby of Camden, South Carolina; stepdaughter, Jeannie (Terry) Cole; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; aunt, Rebecca Nealey of Rock Hill, South Carolina; cousin, Kizzie (James) Atkins; best friends, Janie "Poochie" Jackson-McClinton and Sylvia Ann (Marion) Dixon, both of Camden, South Carolina; her ride or die friend, Sasha Smith; sister-in-law, Tony Stevenson of Charlotte, North Carolina; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
