Rosa Mimns Lee was born April 22, 1941 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Anna Dorothy Mimns and Frank Sylvester, Sr. She departed this earthly life on September 29, 2021 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Rosa spent her younger years in Virginia and New York. Following high school, she completed her associates degree and became a registered nurse. She worked at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, NY. She would remark that a strange man with freckles would follow her every day. She would later marry this man, Edward J. Lee, Sr.
Later in Life, Rosa and Edward relocated back to Edward’s home community in Camden, SC and they became members of Greater Faith and Joy Tabernacle. Rosa served as an usher and sang on the choir. She loved her church and served as a deaconess as well. In addition to her love for church, Rosa also enjoyed painting, crotchet, writing poems, making dolls and sewing blankets. One of her greatest joys was baking and cooking.
Those that remain to celebrate her life and cherish her memories include her sons, Darryl (Lisa) Lee, Lee Roy (Gloria) Lee, Edward J.(Henrietta) Lee, Jr and Lewis (Monica Carlos) Lee; a granddaughter that she loved as a daughter, Celestine (Cedrick Tyrell Rutherford) Lee; grandchildren, NyKilah Wiggins, Christopher (Carter) Hopkins, Angel (Zaiden Kelly) Reynolds, Sharda (DeWayne) Bennett, and Merrisika (Robert, III) Brown; great-grandchildren, Tramaine Bennett, Ziamain Bennett, Laikahlanii Seegars, and Qadir Brown; a host of dedicated sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, grandchildren, cousins, friends and her Goddaughter, Ladovia Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee, Sr; her son, Dana Alfonzo Lee; great-granddaughter, Mailee Brown and a number of siblings.
