Heaven has gained a passionate, loving and caring soul. Patrick Lamar Cunningham, Jr. died on Thursday, August 15th. Patrick was born on January 4th, 1988 in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late Evelyn Marcine Cunnigham and Patrick Cunnigham, Sr. He lived on highway 97 in Camden, South Carolina and loved the quiet country life it provided.
Patrick was baptized at an early age at St. John Baptist Church. He graduated from North Central High School and was accepted at Savannah College of Art and Design. From an early age, Patrick’s talents in the arts were apparent. Not only could he sing, but he was also a very skilled artist. He started out sketching anime characters to later creating masterful paintings, some of which he sold, but most he gave away freely out of love.
Patrick, too, was a work of art. His media, or materials used, were his sweet smile, his calm and gentle demeanor, as well as his unwavering loyalty to those he loved. If his life were a painting, you’d see warm hues of red to symbolize his many passions in life, some of which included art, anime, gaming and most importantly his sincere love for family and friends. Patrick’s life painting also consists of soft blues and earth tones which symbolize the warm, reassuring and sweet joy you felt when in his presence.
Left to honor and cherish his memory is his father, Patrick Cunningham, Sr.; his sisters, Yolanda (Kris) Drakeford, Erica (Troy) Lee and Malayshia Cunningham, as well as his brothers, Markavis (Belinda) Cunningham and Cedric (Quintoya) Owens. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews whom he loved as if they were his own children (Makayla, Troy, Brison, Trenton, Xavier, Savannah, Chase, Chandler, Xander and Denver), as well as his uncles, great aunts and uncles, and a host of cousins and friends.
Patrick saw and found joy in the simple beauties of life. In the words of one of his favorite painters, Van Gogh, “What is done in love is done well.” Patrick lived a life full of love. Well done.
