Patricia Peoples Solomon, age 80 of Camden, South Carolina was born on April 10, 1940 and passed away on February 26, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents: John Peoples Sr. and Annie Allen Peoples; four brothers; John Peoples Jr., James Peoples, Hyman Peoples Sr. and William Peoples; and two sisters: Ella Sansbury and Beulah Fitzgerald. She is survived by two sons: Wescott D. Solomon of Hillside, New Jersey and Terrell A. Solomon of Stockbridge, Georgia; One grandson: Kyle A. A. Solomon of Bloomfield, New Jersey; One Brother: Henry B. Peoples of Florence, South Carolina; One Sister: Nora Green of Timmonsville, South Carolina; Two Aunts: Rachel Brown of Florence, South Carolina and Ada Allen of Bridgeport, Connecticut. She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, great grand nephews, great grand nieces, family, extended family and friends.
Patricia was born in Darlington, County South Carolina. She was raised and lived in Timmonsville, South Carolina until 1964. In 1964, she moved to Lynchburg, South Carolina until 1978. She moved to Camden, South Carolina in 1978 and resided there until her health began to fail in 2019. At that time, she moved to Ellenwood, Georgia then to Stockbridge,
Georgia to live with her son Terrell. She attended Florence County Public Schools and in 1957 graduated from Johnson High School in Timmonsville, South Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, South Carolina in 1961. She earned a Masters Degree in Education and Supervision from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She matriculated further to earn 30 credited hours above her Masters Degree from The University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina.
Patricia’s lifelong mission was to educate students and families as well as to help produce as many successful college graduates as possible. She accomplished this mission by serving her community and her students for 47 years. She served as an Elementary Teacher at Fleming Elementary School in Lynchburg, South Carolina and as a High School Teacher at
Bishopville High School in Bishopville, South Carolina for Lee County Public Schools. She also served as a High School Teacher at Camden High School in Camden, South Carolina and as a High School Administrator at Lugoff-Elgin High School in Lugoff, South Carolina for Kershaw County Public Schools. Patricia worshiped at Camden First United Methodist Church in Camden, South Carolina. She was an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated where she served
as President of her local chapter and served in positions at the State and Regional level.
