On January 12, 2016, Nancy Inez Wood-Brunson departed this life. She was born to Frank W. Wood (deceased) and Irene M. Wood on July 29, 1948, in Kershaw County, South Carolina. As the eldest of eight children, she was educated in the Kershaw County Public School System. Soon after graduation, Nancy left South Carolina for Washington, DC, where she met and married Clarence Mayfield, Sr. From this union, she had two children, Keisha and Clarence, Jr., The Twins. Nancy had a fulfilling career with United Optical in Landover, Maryland, where she worked as a location manager and optician, before retiring in 2009. She enjoyed bus trips, family outings, theater plays and her affiliation with the Order of Eastern Star of Washington, DC. In 2003, Nancy dedicated her life to Christ through baptism at Maryland Family Christian Center in Forestville, Maryland. In 2010, she returned home to Elgin, South Carolina, where she reconnected with family and friends. She later joined the Fort Clark Baptist Church in Elgin, South Carolina as a faithful member with this body of Christ. Leaving to cherish her memory are her mother, Ms. Irene M. Wood of Elgin, South Carolina; her children, Keisha Adams (Larry) of Waldorf, Maryland and Clarence Mayfield, Jr. (Peggy) of Laurel, Maryland; grandchildren, Vinesha, Vincent, Dakota and Montana; siblings, Frank, Jr. of Washington, DC, Ronnie (Linda) of Columbia, South Carolina, Starley (Louise), Diane and Eloise all of Elgin, South Carolina, Priscilla (Venison) of Hanover, Maryland, Roscoe (deceased) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
