Michael K. Addison, 66, died Saturday, Sept. 7 at his home in Cassatt after a lengthy battle with cancer.
The son of Major (USAF Ret.) Charles Levi and Brenda Addison, he was born in Columbia. Mike grew up in Bishopville, where he graduated from R.E. Lee Academy. He earned a degree in business from the University of South Carolina and was a certified respiratory care practitioner.
He worked as a respiratory therapist in several hospitals in the Midlands. His longest stint was at Richland Memorial Hospital, where he was a respiratory health care manager. He also worked at Providence Hospital, Kershaw Memorial and MUSC in Florence.
Mike was an avid naturalist and wildlife specialist. He loved to hunt and fish and was a fan of all sports, especially the Gamecocks.
Survivors include a son, Michael Addison Jr of Florence, a brother, Barry Addison of Mayesville, two sisters, Carol Callahan of Augusta and Linda Dupre of Columbia, and nephews Levi Addison of Irmo and Sean Dupre and Cameron Dupre of Lexington.
The family is planning a memorial service for a later date.
