Margie Johnson was introduced to this world on November 19, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York to the proud parents of Rose and Floyd Johnson. She was the first of three daughters that would be born. After attending Clara Barton High School, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Coney Island Hospital where she met a handsome Army veteran, Abraham Burroughs, who would later become her husband. In 1976, the couple made Camden, South Carolina their home, bringing their two young daughters with them. Typical of first born children, Margie was a caregiver for the entire family, and someone whom everyone always sought for wise advice. She was a motivator, always encouraging young people to further their education. Margie was supportive and helpful. She was also a fighter, someone who always saw a blessing in her life despite her multiple health struggles.
As a child, Margie attended St. Paul Baptist church in Brooklyn and was baptized at Mt. Ollie Baptist Church as a young adult. She was a member of Gordon Street Church of God in Camden. Preceding in her death are her parents, her husband Abraham, her brother, Floyd Jr., and stepson, Daryl Burroughs. Left to celebrate her life and cherish her precious memory are daughters Lisa (John) Reeves and Ericka Burroughs-Girardi; stepdaughter, Adrienne Burroughs; grandson, Elijah Kennedy Burroughs; step-granddaughter, Mawiyah (Franky) Signorili; sisters Pauline Coleman and Elaine Green; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
