Lewis Henry Jones Jr, son of the late Rev. Lewis Henry Jones Sr and Ellen Cookes Jones was born June 6, 1933 in Camden, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on November 28th, 2020 at his residence surrounded by family.
Mr. Jones was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County. He became a member of White Oak Baptist Church around 1947. Lewis would relocate up north where he was employed by the New York State Highway Department and Westside Security Company.
Mr. Jones was a hard worker and enjoyed logging and farming. He also enjoyed music and playing the guitar. Later in life, he enjoyed riding his kids on his electric wheelchair.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Fannie Smalls, Sally Shaver, Louise Sheppard and Ella Mae Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Jones, five sons, Derick Oliver of Hempstead, NY, Tony Jones of Hampton, VA, Kenneth "Bud" Jones of Camden, SC, Darrell Hunter of Seneca, SC and Lewis H. Jones of Jacksonville, FL; five sisters, Ora Lee Jackson of Virginia, Amelia (James) Reed of SC, Eva Mae Crosby of NY, Nettie Hubbard of SC and Jessie Jackson of SC; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family will hold public viewing at Collins Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 1 PM until 3 PM followed by a chapel service. There will be limited guest allowed to attend the chapel service. Please continue to keep the Jones family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
