Leroy was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County, where he developed a passion for learning and a strong work ethic that would guide him throughout his life. He pursued a career as an electrician, a profession he excelled in and dedicated himself to for many years. He worked at Duke, like his father, in his early years. He last worked for IBW union where he retired from. Leroy loved to garden and fish. His dying request was to go fishing so that he could catch some crappies. When he would garden, he would generously give what he grew to those in the community.
