A visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 12 PM until 2 PM. Following the visitation, a procession will leave the funeral home and take Mrs. Johnson by her home and then to Hyco Missionary Baptist Church where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Deacon Early Johnson, Jr, in the Marshall-Johnson family plot. There will be no public viewing at Mrs. Johnson's request.
Mrs. Katye D. Adamson Johnson, 91, of Cassatt, South Carolina, entered into rest on Friday, August 16, 2024. She was born on August 12, 1933, to the late Deacon James A. Adamson, Jr and the late Rosa Thompson Adamson. Mrs. Johnson was the widow of the late Deacon Early Johnson, Jr.
Mrs. Johnson received her early childhood education in Kershaw County public schools. Katye was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Boylan-Haven Mather Academy. She was a lifelong member of Hyco Missionary Baptist Church. Katye worked for Kershaw County Memorial Hospital and retired as the director of transportation.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Denise P. Johnson DuBose.
Those left to carry her memory are her children, Cortez (Michele) Johnson, Yolanda (Marvin) Thomas, Hope Johnson Jones, Lathan Johnson, Erica (Milton) Collins, and Rev. Everett Johnson; sisters-in-law, Juanita Copeland, Annette Evans and Marian Manigault; sixteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
