Julia Ballard was born on October 27, 1937, in Boykin, South Carolina to the late Priscilla English Carter and the late Ned Carter. She entered into rest on January 9, 2023, in Camden, South Carolina.
Julia was educated in the Kershaw County public school system. She married the late John Daniel Ballard. During her working years, Julia was a cook at First Baptist Church in Camden, South Carolina. She also enjoyed singing and was part of a gospel group. Julia's greatest love was her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, John Ballard (Angela) and Sarah Nelson (Harold) of Camden, South Carolina, Joanne Ballard of Lugoff, South Carolina, and Linda Ballard of Elgin, South Carolina; sisters, Mae Helen Martin of New Haven, Connecticut, Anette Carter and Geneva Rutledge of Camden, South Carolina, Margarite Atkins (Jerry) of Lugoff, South Carolina, and Louise Carter of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother, Richard Carter of Camden, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
