OBITUARY James Patterson was born in Brooklyn New York on November 11,1937, to the late James and Rozena Mcleod Patterson of South Carolina. The sun set on April 9th at 7:03 PM for James Patterson. James attended school in Brooklyn, NY where he graduated in 1956 and went on to join the United State Air Force. He was Airman 2nd Class from 1956-1960. He then served two years in the Air Force Reserve. On February 26,1962, he received an Honorable Discharge. When James returned home, he attended Brooklyn Community College for two years, where he received his Associates Degree in Engineering. He went on to work as an Engineering Technologist for the Park Dept. of New York City from April 19, 1969 to September 29, 2000.In 1985 he met the love of his life, Evon Burrell. They were married on April 3, 1993 in Bayside, NY. He retired in 2000 and they moved to Camden, South Carolina. He loved fishing and working in his yard. One Sunday morning in 2001 at Sweet Home Baptist Church, James received the invitation to turn his life over to Christ. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and joined the church family. He was baptized on August 12, 2001, at Sweet Home Baptist Church. He joined the Ushers, Trustees, the Male and the Mass Choir. He was also a Sunday School Teacher and the Sunday School Superintendent. On October 22, 2006 he was ordained as a Deacon by Rev. David Montgomery. He dedicated his life to his family and his church. He was also part of The Men Power Ministry of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.He leaves behind his wife, Evon Patterson of 25 years. One Brother, William Patterson; three step daughters, Deborah (Reginald) Snoddy of South Carolina, Consuella (Lorenzo) Battle of South Carolina and Tonya (Robert) Leary of New York; Seven step grandchildren, Jason & Fazia Bride (USA Army, Wahiawa HI) Tevin Leary, Kendell Battle, Noah & Nikiah Snoddy, and Sydney and Cameron Leary; one step great grand daughter, Armani; three sister-in-laws, Susan Carver, Mary Burrell, and Virgie Waters; one brother-in-law, William (Gloria) Burrell; and a host of cousin, nieces, nephews and friends.
