Mr. James H. Nelson Sr. was born in Lugoff, South Carolina on June 30, 1930 to the late Annie Nelson and Jim Harris. He entered into eternal rest on January 5, 2021. He was preceded in death by his first wife Alice Mae Nelson, and two daughters Janet Nelson and Linda Nelson.
James received his education from the public schools of Kershaw County. He worked as a self-employed mechanic in Jamaica Queens, NY, owning several shops. After retiring he relocated south and enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. James Nelson was the patriarchal essence of the Nelson family and showed us all what being a loving person truly means.
Those who will forever cherish his fond and precious memories are his wife Beatrice Nelson, of Lugoff, SC, a loving daughter, Sherry Nelson of Atlanta, GA, two sons, James (Dianne) Nelson Jr. of Jamaica Queens, NY, Richard (Juanita) Nelson of Abbeville, SC; two sisters, Anna Moore of Lugoff, SC and Betty Taylor of Ridgeway, SC. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure, but rejoice that he is now resting with the Lord.
