The family of Mr. Murphy will hold a private graveside service due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Public viewing will take place from 2 PM until 5:30 PM in the parlor of Collins Funeral Home, Inc, 714 W. Dekalb Street, Camden, South Carolina.
James Bruce Murphy, affectionately known as Jimmie, was born August 17, 1943 in Camden, South Carolina to the late Roscoe Perry and Edna Stewart. He entered into eternal rest on May 14, 2020 at Providence Health in Columbia, South Carolina.
Jimmie attended school in Kershaw county and graduated from Jackson High School. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling, dancing, music and spending time with family and friends. Jimmie was employed with the Kershaw County School District for a number of years. He retired as a custodian from Camden Middle School.
Jimmie is survived by his children, James Myron (Casilda) Murphy of Columbia, South Carolina, Melanie Murphy, and Clarence Wilson both of Camden, South Carolina; brothers, Charles (Doris) Perry and Reggie (Frances) Perry both of Camden, South Carolina; special cousins, James and Ann Miller of St. Albans, New York; special friends, Thomas Harrel, James Schofield, Jimmie Wheeler and Rudy Hall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
