Early, Tuesday morning, April 13th, 2021, Rev. Jackson Britt, Jr went to be with the Lord. Rev Britt was born in Stamford, Connecticut on December 25th,1932, to the late, Mr. Jackson Britt Sr. and Mrs. Lelia Jennings Britt. He was the second born of their seven children.
He graduated from Stamford High School in 1952. Jackson joined the United State Air force after graduation. After his tour of duty, he returned home and completed his education at JM Wright Technical School.
Rev. Britt relocated to Elgin, South Carolina where he became a member of the Fort Clark Baptist Church. He was a superintendent of Sunday School. Rev. Britt became Bishop W. H. Woodard, Jr's assistant Pastor. He served as a member of the men's choir, member of the nursing home ministry, prayer ministry and the bereavement team. Scripture states that we are to study to show ourselves approved and Rev. Britt did just that. He received his ordination from the Gethsemane Baptist Association and attended the School of Theology at Virginia Union University, Fort Clark Biblical Institute and he received a Bachelor of Theology from James Dussault University. Rev. Britt was a devoted husband, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather.
He is lovingly survived by his children, Jacqueline Britt Crudup of Elgin, SC, Willard N.(Cheryl) James, Bernard Quince, Linda Gilbert, and Beverly Adderly of Florida; five Grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Richard McGhee, Donna McGhee, Carol McGhee, Alan Britt, Mary Britt, Andrea Britt Cole, Brenda Britt, Nancy Redden, Windy Redden, Walter Redden, Jamie Britt, and David Truss; two sisters, Mrs. Doris B. McGhee of Elgin, SC. And Mrs. Barbara (Rev. Joseph) Truss of Queen, New York; one Brother, George Britt of Columbia, SC; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
