Ida S. Taylor, the only child of the late James Jefferson and Bernie Sumter, departed this life on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 3:00pm at Kershaw Health in Camden, South Carolina. She was born November 26, 1921 in Sumter County, South Carolina. Mrs. Taylor accepted accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. During her life she loved to garden. Every spring and summer her flower garden was the best in the neighborhood. She also loved to fish, and was pretty good at it. Mrs. Taylor was the Mother of the Church and a long time senior choir member at St. Stephens Baptist Church. She was faithful in all organizations. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Taylor, her daughters Eartha Aiken, Hazel Taylor, and son John Taylor. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving daughters; Betty Moody of Columbia, South Carolina, Frances (June) Womack of Sumter, South Carolina, and Sue M. Williams of Denver, Colorado; her sons Joseph E. Taylor and Orlando Taylor, a son-in-law, Percy Womack, the late John E. Taylor, 7 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Lord, we thank thee for this life which has come to its final charge. And when tomorrow starts without her, help us to remember we are not far apart, for every time we think of her, we will know that she is still in our hearts. Amen.
