Mr. George "Buster" Thomas, 90, of Cassatt, South Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 7th, 2018. He was born on December 4th, 1927 in Bishopville, South Carolina to the late Arthur and Ruth H. Thomas.
He received his early education at the Old Cassatt School. Mr. Thomas would move up north to the Washington, DC area where he would enlist in the United States Army. He served in a heavy tank battalion. Following his military service, Mr. Thomas returned to the Washington, D.C area where he did construction and worked for the railroad until his retirement in 1978. He would then return home, to Cassatt, South Carolina, where he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He also enjoyed watching baseball. Mr. Thomas was a member of Red Hill Baptist for over 75 years.
Those left to cherish his memories include, his daughters, Ada Ruth Crawford of Queens, NY and Belinda (Raymond, Jr) Jones of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, Regina Crawford, Greatest Crawford, Crystal Yvette Crawford, Joseph Powell, Jr, and Dewan Powell; nine great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends who love him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janie Thomas; brothers Arthur "James" Thomas, Jr, Neal Thomas, and Cole Thomas; sisters, Victoria "Lettie" Sippley, Nancy Leak, Eva Harris, Jessie Adamson and Leola Thomas.
