Due to COVID-19, funeral services for Mr. Belton will be private. The public is invited to pay respect at his public viewing scheduled from 3 PM to 6 PM on Friday, January 8, 2021.
Mr. Fred “Chuck “Belton Jr., 68, son of the late Fred Belton and Margaret James was born April 25, 1952 in Camden, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2021 at Rice Estates in Columbia, South Carolina.
Fred received his early education at Kirkland School. He worked in North Carolina as a power technician for Duke Power and later he worked at DuPont in Lugoff, South Carolina. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Saint Peter United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, renovator, and organizer in the church. He loved church very much and enjoyed meeting and interacting with people. He also served in the United States Army for a number of years and the United States National Guard.
Those left to mourn his passing are Thelma and Leroy Smalls of Camden, South Carolina; Jimmie and Mary Belton of Mount Vernon, New York; Aline Kirkland of New Rochelle, New York; Bertha Belton of Grand Forks, North Dakota; sister-in-law Betty Belton of Indian Trail, North Carolina; brother-in-law Charlie Wood of Camden, SC; and Aunt Viola Belton of Camden, SC. In addition, Fred loved his many nieces, nephews, relatives, church family, and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Belton; brothers, Robert, Berkeley, David, and Roosevelt Belton; and sister, Oretta Belton Wood.
Please do not grieve; just take a few moments to reflect on your interaction with Fred Belton Jr. during his 68 years journey; he enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
