Frank Edwards, Jr

The family will not hold a public viewing or visitation. Funeral services for Mr. Edwards will be graveside on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Frank Edwards, Jr. (76), retired public school teacher and widow of Rebecca Jones Edwards, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Frank was born to Frank Edwards, Sr. and Rose Ann Edwards on September 20, 1946.

In 1966, Frank graduated from St. John High School in Cameron, SC. Following his high school graduation, Frank attended Claflin College (now Claflin University) where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences in 1970. He then moved to Camden, SC where he met his wife, soulmate, and best friend. After moving to Camden, Frank briefly worked in the insurance industry prior to beginning his professional career as a teacher in January 1971. He taught at the high school level in special education in the Kershaw County School District and retired after 38 years of service.

For 40 plus years, Frank was an active and dedicated member of Camden First United Methodist Church (formerly known as Trinity United Methodist Church). As an influential member in his local community, Frank is remembered for his kindness, generosity, and passion for actively engaging in opportunities to be a positive change agent in his community. In working with the youth, Frank was dedicated to helping students succeed in life and in school as well as to adding value to their and their family’s life. Through his wife and children, his career, his church family, his community, and his relationship with God, Frank lived a very fulfilling life. Frank enjoyed reading, listening to Motown music with his wife, sitting out in the sun, admiring horses, and being in the presence of his lovely wife. He valued traditions, family, community connections, and setting a good example for his children.

Frank will be forever alive in the hearts of his four children: Jonathan Edwards of Camden, S. C., Marcus Edwards of Houston, TX, Frank Chapelle (Shiara) Edwards, III of Camden, S. C., and Valencia (Demetrius) Johnson of Fairfax, V. A.; 10 grandchildren: Eboni Edwards, Anthony Edwards, Abrianna J. Edwards, Tiarrah Edwards, Makayla Edwards, Ezekiel Edwards, Selah Edwards, Olivia Johnson, Ava Johnson, and Grason Johnson; one brother: Nathaniel (Debra) Edwards; six nieces: Felicia Eaddy, Natalie (Idi) Murray, Deirdre Edwards, Cassaundra Edwards, Audrey (Martin) Edwards-Jones, and Terry (Barry) Fludd; one nephew: Paul Edwards, along with many other relatives and friends across the U. S.

Frank was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Willie Edwards, and his sister Rosa Edwards Slater.
