Virginia Flossie Brewster, was born in Islandton, SC, on April 11, 1927 to Fred Elijah Aiken and Clementine James. At a young age, she married Elwood Carr, Sr. They resided in North Carolina then later moved to Brooklyn, NY. From that union three children were born, Elwood, Deborah and Lorraine. Flossie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over twenty-five years at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens Village, NY. In 1989, she married Lawson Brewster and in 2003 they moved to Camden, South Carolina. Flossie is preceded in death by her parents, her son Elwood Carr Jr., and her siblings Harold, Essie, Jonas, Helen, Jenny, Jackie, Freddie, Jean and Jeanette. Flossie leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Deborah Dunbar and Lorraine Hill as well as her grandson Joseph Hill, granddaughter Melissa Pinkney, son-in-law Eric Pinkney, great grandchildren Melita, Aalita and Telita Pinkney, great-great granddaughter Eza’riyah and siblings Ruth Cochran, Vernon Aiken, Hortense Edwards, nieces, nephews and extended family. Flossie loved to garden, shop and read. She was devoted to all her children and family.
