Eugene Drakeford Jr. son of the late Eugene Drakeford Sr. and the late Bessie Drakeford was born March 23, 1943 in Westville,South Carolina. Eugene entered into heavenly rest on August 24, 2021 at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center. Eugene Drakeford was a graduate of Jackson High School, Camden,South Carolina. He received his christian education at Macedonia Baptist Church Camden, South Carolina. He worked as a master brick mason for Truesdale Masonry Company for many years.
Sergeant Eugene Drakeford Jr. went to Vietnam War with HHC 1st Bn 11th Infantry APO SF 96477. He received the Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado in July 1968. Eugene served 23 years in the United States Armed Forces including 19 years of service in the South Carolina National Guard 125th Engineer Company, Bishopville, South Carolina 29010 21B "Combat Engineer". He retired in 1995.
Affectionately known as "Geno" to his community, a True Kirkwood Legend. He was a well respected mentor and friend to many. The true statue of what a man should be.

Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Louise Drakeford; Sisters-in-law, Bobbie Robinson, Alma Drakeford, Henrietta Lyles-Gray, and Sue Truesdale; brothers-in-law, John Truesdale, Moses Drakeford Jr., James Gray, and John Drakeford.
