Esau Belton, Jr was born July 15, 1959 to Esau Belton, Sr and the late Willie Mae Griffin in Ridgeway, South Carolina. He was called from labor to reward on October 14, 2020 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Esau, affectionately known as Pete, was a graduate of Eau Claire High School. Following graduation, he attended Rutledge College and Midlands Technical College. Pete was an avid outdoors man. He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed anything outdoors. He would take a position at Vulcan Materials as a Rock Crusher. Pete enjoyed his work and became a lead man at the mine. He never missed a day of work.
Pete had a strong love for the Lord and doing the Lord's work. He enjoyed laboring as a lay servant feeding the homeless, distributing care packages to those in need and engaging in community outreach. Pete served as a Trustee, Usher and Sunday School teacher at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. His presence in the community will be missed.
Those that remain to cherish his memory include his wife, Eva Belton of Elgin, South Carolina; father, Esau (Gail) Belton, Sr of Chicago, IL; children, Yolanda Green and Tekia Belton both of Columbia, South Carolina, and Kendra Belton of Elgin, South Carolina; grandchildren, Bridgis Green, Imani Belton, Malik Belton, and CJ Belton all of Columbia, South Carolina; step-children, Cory (Brittany) Johnson and Shawn Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina; step-grandchildren, Mason and Kaelyn Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina; Siblings, Willie (Mamie) Ricks of Ridgeway, South Carolina, Antonio (Rochelle) Belton, Cynthia Butler and Michael Ross of Chicago, Illinois; former wife, Regina Belton of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Griffin.
