Dorothy Amanda Drakeford, 83 of Cassatt, South Carolina, daughter of the late Deacon Frederick Berry Drakeford and Julia Gladys Lawhorn Drakeford entered into rest August 19th, 2019. She was born on September 22nd, 1935 in Cassatt, South Carolina.
She received her early education in Kershaw County public schools and graduated from Jackson High School. Dorothy went on to attend and graduate nursing school. Upon graduation, she received her nursing license. Dorothy worked at D.C. General hospital for a number of years and would finish her career working as a correctional officer at Wateree Correctional Institution . She received her early religious education at Hyco Baptist Church, where she remained a member until transferring her membership to heaven.
Dorothy was a sweet, stern, fair and loving person. She loved babies and children. Dorothy loved family and enjoyed spending time with her eight siblings, children, granddaughter and great-granddaughter. She enjoyed playing golf with her daughter, Gwendolyn. Dorothy also enjoyed sewing and shopping. She enjoyed talking with her daughter Gail and sharing life wisdom. Her beloved Tony was her computer wizard and would help her with anything technical. The youngest, Damian M. Adams, was the apple of her eye and her heartbeat. Her children were heart and she will continue to live on in them.
Those left to cherish life's precious memories are her loving and devoted children, George Tony Harris, Gwendolyn T. Adams and former spouse Richard Adams, Gail Harris Salmond (Isaac D.), and Damian M. Adams; one granddaughter, Pamela L. Adams; one great-granddaughter, De'Asia V. Adams; sisters, Minnie Bernhardt and Janie Stafford; special nieces, Annette Drakeford (and her son, Mason), Terry Johnson (and her daughter, Macy) and Toria Lindsay; a dear friend, Ida Portee; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
