On August 11, 1953 in Camden, South Carolina, the late Clifton and Louise Goodwin welcomed their fourth child, Daisy Elease Goodwin Brantley. On June 30, 2023, Daisy answered the master’s call. She was effectionately called “Dee” or Aunt “Dee Dee”.
Daisy attended Kershaw County Public Schools and graduated from Camden High School. Following graduation, she continued her education at Palmer College. Daisy enjoyed a career with the State Board for Technical Comprehensive Education as a Procurement Specialist. She enjoyed a number of hobbies and pastimes to include shopping, cooking, fishing, spending time at Lake Wateree and gardening.
One of Daisy’s greatest loves was worshiping the Lord. She received her early Christian Education at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Black River Road. Daisy was a member of Bible Way Church of Atlas Road for over 35 years. She was a member of the usher board, a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school administrator and she led the foreign mission ministry. Even as her health began to fail, her faith did not waiver.
Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Louise McCaskill Goodwin; siblings, Edward Goodwin, Clifton Michael “Mike” Goodwin, Charles Rayford “Ray” Goodwin and Phillip Reginald Goodwin.
Those who remain to remember and cherish her memory include her husband, James Garland “Skip” Brantley; children, Sharon Bostic, Dennis Bostic, Theresa Brantley Williams and Derek Brantley; sisters, Deborah Moody (Oliver) and Gloria Goodwin; eleven grandchildren; aunts, Francis Weldon, Cecilia Richardson and Daisy James; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
