Mr. Curtis Wood received his wings on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Willie Mae Wood and Charles Wilson, Sr. He was born March 23, 1950 in Blaney, South Carolina.
He attended the public schools of Kershaw County, graduated from Job Corp in Spokane, Washington. He was a roofer and carpenter by trade. He worked for Branham Construction Company and Catastrophe Services of Columbia, South Carolina.
Curtis, whenever he desired, attended James Chapel A.M.E., Smyrna United Methodist Church, New Jerusalem #2 Elgin, Rehobeth Baptist and studied on Saturdays with Jehovah’s Witnesses Elgin Congregation. He sang at times with the Community Brothers of Elgin. He enjoyed singing gospel, country/western, fishing, attending everybody’s gatherings and scratching tickets.
Curtis was preceded in death by his sisters Mildred Woodard, Vickie Jones and brothers Andre Outen, Lonnie Charles, Ronald and Bruce Wilson.
He will live in the memories of his four heartbeats: Felicia Golden of Oklahoma, Demetria Wood (Robert) Pollock of Columbia, South Carolina, Christy (Grover Jr.) Qualls and Tamara Lyles, both of Lugoff, South Carolina; his chain: two sisters – Martha Wood of Lugoff, South Carolina and Mary Lee Caroll of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother – Jerry (Linda) Wilson, Sr. of Long Beach, California; grandchildren – Felise Williams, La-Keema Dupree, Joy Banks, Karsyn Richardson, Kaidin Richardson, Zachary Scott and Jai Kelly; great-grandchildren – Na’Zhir Charles, Lyla Joseph and King Massiya Kelly; his greatest link of his chain is his aunt – Mary Taylor of Hopkins, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law – Elizabeth and Diane Wilson of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, especially Mr. Mike, Sammy Dixon and Chris Harris.
