Charles "Charlie" Mack Thrift was the son of the late Lessie Mae Chatman and Willie Thrift and the stepson of the late Howard Chatman. He was born February 20th, 1943 in Tallassee, Alabama and finished his race on August 7, 2020.
Charles attended and completed 12 years of public school at Wall Street High School in Tallassee, Alabama. Charles was a dedicated servant for the Lord from Evangelistic Community Center where he served as a member of the Trustee Board, Altar Ministry, Benevolent Ministry, Usher Board, Helping Hands Ministry, Pastor's Aide President, Choir Member, Training for Deaconship, Prayer Warrior, and Church Gatekeeper.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of forty-four years, Mary Thrift, who we know was waiting with outstretched hands to greet the love of her life; and one child, Santana Summers.
Left to cherish many fond memories are one devoted and dutiful daughter, Cheryl T. Brown of the home; three sons, Tony Thrift (Betsy) of Warren, PA, Chris Thrift (Asheley) of Greenville, SC and Chauncie Thrift (Jessica) of Charleston, SC; Melissa Serling of Birmingham, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Charles Thrift and Chris Thrift, both of Columbia, SC, Danielle Thrift (Troy) of Uvalda, GA, Tyler Howard, Lucas and Jaxon Thrift of Warren, PA, Emma Finch of Greenville, SC, Addison May of Charlottesville, VA and Jasmine Sterling of Birmingham, AL; two great-grandchildren, his "Brohammers", Carlos and Troy Jr; three siblings of Massachusetts, Barbara Brookins, Earnest (Marjorie) Buckhannon and Olivia (Rick) Terrell; two brother-in-laws, Harold Williams (Sandy) of NY and Robert Pegram of Sumter, SC; sister-in-law, Marie Mack of NY; one devoted Goddaughter, Mildred Johnson of Cassatt, SC and one devoted daughter-in-law Jen Thrift of Warren, PA, special friends, Barbara Dow, Morris Dow and Wendell Norwood all of Camden, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
