Deacon Brodies Stover, Sr, son of the late Leroy Stover, Sr and Eva Mae Robinson Stover, was born in Camden, South Carolina on December 20, 1932. On November 23, 2020, he was called from labor to reward.
Brodies was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County. He received his diploma from the Kershaw County Vocational Center. In his youth, Brodies was a member of Rock Spring United Methodist Church. He relocated to Paterson, New Jersey where he became a member of Paterson-Community Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon. When he moved back home, he joined St. John Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and would later become the chairman of the deacon board.
Brodies served his country in the United States Army. He was also employed by Chevrolet, SC Highway Department and BF Goodrich. Brodies loved to hunt and fish. He loved cars, especially Chevy's and Cadillac's. Brodies was a mason and belonged to the Sons of Liberty #148 for over 65 years. He loved watching football with his children and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Brodies Stover, Jr, Marcus Stover and Barbara Stover Jones; granddaughter, Chrissy; and brothers, Willie Stover, Sr, David Stover, Sr and Leroy Stover.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Jane Stover; children, Ronald Stover, Rosemary Stover and Linda Stover all of Camden, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jacqueline Stover, Mobile, Alabama, Marsell Stover, Germany, Celestia Jones, Camden, SC, Monica & Monique Jones, Willette Garrick, Rock Hill, SC, Shanay & Marcus Stover, Charlotte,NC
Jeremy Fletcher, Camden, SC, and Marcus Stover Jr, Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Norman Stover (Sheba) of Bowie, Maryland, Johnny Stover (Lydia) of Camden, SC; three sisters, Ivory Bradford (Albert), Lillie S. Jennings, both of Camden, SC and Elease Kirkland of Lugoff, SC; six great grandchildren, Jayden, Camren, Chantel, Tyriek, Chantel, Charlee; one daughter-in-law, Lorisa Stover; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
