Reverend Arthur C. Macklin, Sr. 79, formerly of Camden, South Carolina, entered into eternal life at Kershaw Health on Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Camden, South Carolina. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia on March 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Mr. Edward Macklin, Sr., and the late Mrs. Christina Marie Tucker Macklin.Reverend Macklin attended public school in Portsmouth, VA. He received Christ at an early age. While working in Brooklyn, New York, he met his wife Maria Warren in 1963. After courting for six months, they married and moved to Camden, SC. Until his departure, they were married for 55 years. He worked at Kershaw County Memorial Hospital and Hermitage Mill. He was widely known for his humility and for helping others. He would also spend his quiet time fishing.Reverend Macklin begin his work in ministry in 1974 when he preached his first sermon at Saint Luke Baptist Church. He was later ordained at Sanders Creek Baptist Church. He pastored at High Hill Baptist, Mt. Pilgrim Baptist, Gospel Stand Holiness, and St. James Holiness Church. He was also an Associate Minister at Gaines Baptist Church until his illness. He spent the latter years of his life at Sam Karesh Wing Nursing facility. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Raymond, Edward Jr. and Dickey Macklin of Portsmouth, Virginia.Those left to cherish his fond memories are: His loving wife Maria Warren Macklin of Camden; his children Richard Warren of Camden, Sylvia Warren (Ce’sar) of Camden, Arthur Macklin, Jr. (Cleopatra), of Camden, Rickey Macklin of Temples Hills, Md, Otis Macklin of Camden, Gazella Williams of Camden, Rogina Macklin of Camden, Teresa Macklin of Camden, Towanna Macklin of Camden, Angel Macklin of Camden, and Crystal Macklin of Camden. 20 Grandchildren; 22 Great grandchildren, 5 step-grands, 4 step-great grands. Two brother-n-laws; Richard Warren (Pam) of Columbia, SC, and Charlie Warren (Joyce) of Camden SC., and a host of nieces, nephews, and a special family friend Mrs. Christine Thomas Carlos.
