Mr. Allen (George) Salmond was born January 13, 1946 to the late Ms. Eva Mae Salmond. He was married to his beloved wife, Joann Shell Salmond, for 49 years. To this union two children were born: Ronald Salmond and Clarice Salmond Truesdale. Allen was preceded in death by his mother; sisters; Bernice S. Thomas, Maggie S. Murphy, Betty Jean McIntosh, Viola S. Wood and Mary Louise Salmond; and brother LeRoy Salmond. Mr. Salmond was a 1964 graduate of Jackson High School. He moved to Connecticut at a young age where he was employed at United Technologies Pratt & Whitney for over 30 years. After retirement he relocated back to Lugoff, SC. Bethlehem Missionary Baptist became his church home. He loved the Lord and his church family. As a member, he served in many capacities: a member of the Brotherhood Ministry, sang in the male chorus, and driver for church transportation. Known as "George" or "Duke" to family and friends, he embraced all he met. With a kind, humble and compassionate spirit he will be remembered for being a "Good Man", lending a helping hand whenever needed. He loved working in his yard and getting into trouble while playing with his granddaughter Zuri, whom he adored. Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever remain in the hearts and lives of those he knew. He was the best husband, father, brother, grandfather, in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. Those left to cherish his precious memory, but mourn the loss and celebrate his beautiful home going are his devoted and caring wife of 49 years, Joann Salmond of Lugoff, SC; two children; Mr. Ronald (Jolyn) Salmond of Charlotte, NC and Mrs. Clarice (Darryl) Salmond-Truesdale of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren; Royce Darby and Zuri Truesdale; two loving sisters Mrs. Mattie Starkes of Valley Stream, NY, and Mrs. Helen (James) Dixon of Lugoff, SC; and a caring brother; Mr. Herman Salmond of Lugoff, SC with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
